O'Reilly's Tree Top Walk
One of the great free attractions on the Gold Coast is O'Reilly's Tree Top Walk. This Canopy walk leads you through the tree tops and to come face to face with flowering and the fruiting trees and vines, orchids, ferns, birds and animals that live amongst the tree tops.
The tree top walk is just 300 metres from O'Reilly's Guesthouse via the Booyong Walk. The tree top boardwalk was built by the Green Mountains Natural History Association and was the first of its kind in Australia. It is 180 metres long and comprises 9 suspension bridges and fro most of the walk is 15 metres above the ground. Information boards describing the rainforest are dotted along the walkway to help visitors identifying the plants in the immediate vicinity. Two observation decks have been constructed in a Strangler Fig above the walk way, the highest one being 30 metres (approx 110 feet) above the ground. To reach the observation decks a ladder protected by wire screens needs to be scaled. Once on the decks visitors can see the orchids and ferns up close as well as taking in the views over the rainforest canopy. The Tree Top Walk is a truly unique and innovative adventure suitable for the whole family and is an exhilarating experience.
