Burleigh Winter Solstice Festival 2010
The Burleigh Winter Solstice Festival takes over James & Connor Streets in Burleigh Heads each June on the Saturday night closest to the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice celebrates the shortest day of the year and had enormous significance for ancient cultures as it marked the turning point when daylight once again triumphed over the darkness of winter. It was a joyous occasion as they knew that Spring, a time of growth and fertility would return.
