Swell Sculpture Festival 2010Currumbin Beach - Friday 10th - Sunday 19th September 2010 The eighth annual, free outdoor sculpture exhibition will be held along Currumbin Beach from the 10th – 19th September 2010. Swell Sculpture Festival provides artists with the opportunity to exhibit in a highly regarded exhibition set within a visually stimulating, expansive coastal landscape. Artists will compete for up to $60,000 in Awards and Acquisitions with the Gold Coast City Council acquiring a sculpture up to $20,000 for Division 14 and Satterley Property Group acquiring two works both of up to $20,000 and $10,000. Other awards include the highly popular People’s and Kids’ Choice Awards, Emerging Artist Award, Environmental Awareness Award, Media Award and Artist Peer Award. Exhibiting 55 sculptures, Swell Sculpture Festival supports full freedom of expression for all forms of sculpture and encourage submissions. The curatorial panel includes Queensland Government Architect Philip Follent and renowned artist Donna Marcus. Highlights include the Swell Smalls Gallery - an exhibition of smaller works, artist talks, twilight walks, kids’ workshops, public art forum and an artist in residence. With an estimated display of 55 sculptures from Australia and international artists the eighth annual Swell Sculpture Festival is a free exhibition open all hours an lit only by the southern skies. Running for 10 days you can come along to enjoy the sculptures, twilight sculpture walks, artist talks and discover new perspectives at the Public Art Forum as well as wandering through the Swell Smalls Gallery, participate in artist workshops and dine at gourmet cafes and restaurants.
